Because of the insane amounts of money that go into teleseryes and movies, I can understand why many producers act like entertainment is mathematics, that there is actually a formula that turns into ratings and box office sales. Life becomes easier if there's a mathematical equation we can follow to make success a certainty. But the reality is that everyone's pulling these formulas out their own asses, based on their own biases and tastes. When a formula seems successful, it's going to be milked and milked and milked. As long as that cow is still alive, new ideas will sound like heresy. That's why it's always a good time for creatives when current trends appear to be floundering. This just means the industry will be looking for new ideas to milk to death.
